Cheshire was taken back by his words. He always thought there was a reason for everything. It didnt make sense to do something without knowing why, without having a purpose. He thought for a moment.
“It doesnt bother Oz not knowing why he does things?”
He was very curious about the way Oz thought because it was different from other humans. He felt like he could learn more if he understood Oz or at least tried to.
What do you even know about me. He shook off his hurtful thoughts as he smiled cheerfully in front of the chain. “Well, it’s not like I’m doing things that I don’t like, Cheshire Neko-san!” he closed his eyes as he paused then sighed and eventually continued, “I prefer things to stay like this.”
Because in this way, I can’t cause inconvenience to others. “I also have my purposes that’s why I can still smile like this. If I’ll be like this to be able to protect someone… Yes, to be able to protect Alice, then I’ll gladly stay just like this.”
“Oz is different than Cheshire thought…”
He never realized he would have so much in common with him. To protect someone, Cheshire understood. It was how he felt about Alyss and Echo. Thats why he always smiled. To keep that someone from worrying.

Cheshire stared blankly. He still didnt understand human feelings well since he was just beginning to feel them. He wasnt quite sure why anyone would smile when they didnt feel like it.
“Cheshire doesnt understand why Oz will smile even though he doesnt want to.”
He leaned in very close.
“WHy does Oz make himself do things he does not want to do?”
Cheshire was used to being told what to do despite how he felt about it. Yet here was Oz, able to do however he pleased, forcing himself to do unpleasant things. Humans were strange.
“Doesn’t even want to…?” He took a step back as the strange feline leaned in closer. It has been… always like this ever since. “You see, Cheshire Neko-san…” he looked down, pausing for a moment then looked up again straight at Cheshire’s face,
“You don’t have to know why.”

She kissed him again on the other cheek, gently. It was okay as long as Cheshire liked it. That’s what she told herself. She hugged him again her head resting on his shoulder. His dark hair, meeting her white hair. “Alyss will stay with Cheshire…because that’s where she is happy too…” She wondered to herself about Jack. Would that still be true if he were to suddenly appear. Could she stay with Cheshire then? Did she still love Jack? She wasn’t sure anymore. Jack was cruel…Jack had left her, but Cheshire stayed. Would her feelings change for Cheshire is she got closer to him in a human way? “Alyss still wants to play pretend with you Cheshire….” The decision made. The dice cast…
He placed a finger under her chin tilting her face to his. He kissed her softly on the lips.
“If that is what Alyss desires.”
It was time for him to stop acting like a kitten. If he were to truly love Alyss he needed to show her. There was no need to be embarrassed around her. How could he focus on keeping her happy if his thoughts were a mess? He collected himself and smiled. He owed a lot to her and he knew hed never be able to repay her, but this was a step in the right direction.

“Is Oz always this happy?”
What a strange question, eh. He said to himself. As he looked at the strange chain in front of him with those sharp emerald orbs, eyes slowly flickering showing no interest in the question. “I can’t do anything else but to smile.” He gave him those of his smiled, the usual, the even though he’s in pain-smile.

“Cheshire Neko-san!” he chimed cheerfully, greeting the feline in reply.
Cheshire blinked for a moment. So happy.
“Is Oz always this happy?”

“Hmmm? Oh you’re a cat! Just like Snowdrop!”
“Yes, Cheshire is a cat.”
His tail flicked
“Who is ‘Snowdrop’?”
“He’s my Cat! He lives with me! And goes to school with me!”
“You are like Snowdrop’s Alyss then? Cheshire would like to meet Snowdrop one day.”
He stared at her intently. She didnt seem like Alyss but she must be important if she had a cat of her own. He leaned forward and sniffed her. She looked familiar but he knew he had never met her.
Cheshire…I love you….
She looked at his face for a moment…he’d turned red.
“Does Cheshire like it when I kiss him there?”
She smiled…as he rested his forehead against hers.
“Alyss is very happy too…”
She wondered for a second if he was still playing pretend with her…even if he was, she was happy…and she wasn’t pretending. She wondered what it would be like if Cheshire had kissed her there, instead of her kissing him. Would she like that? Was this so strange? She had been gone for a while…when had her feelings changed?
The only person who had ever kissed her before was Jack…but she didn’t want to think about him right now…didn’t want to think about the past anymore.
He nodded slightly.
“Yes…”
He was glad to hear she was happy and he was glad he was the one to make her feel that way. He began to purr as his tail gently flicked behind him.
